Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion 2018

February 18, 2018: 1:00 p.m. | St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay

The Diocesan Rite of Election (for Catechumens; those who are yet to be baptized) and Call to Continuing Conversion (for Candidates for the Full Communion of the Catholic Church, already baptized and awaiting First Communion and Confirmation) will be held on February 18, 2018, with Bishop David L. Ricken.

This liturgy begins the Catechumens and Candidates' final period of the RCIA process prior to their initiation, which will last throughout Lent, and lead to the reception of sacraments at the Easter Vigil and during the Easter season. The Bishop, as chief shepherd and catechist of the Diocese, is responsible for declaring the catechumens as the 'elect,' those called by name and chosen by Christ, to be admitted to the Sacraments of Christian Initiation.

At the same liturgy, he calls upon those who have already been validly baptized as Christians but have not completed their initiation, or have been part of another Christian community, to continual conversion as they are received into the full communion of the Catholic Church.
