Catholics Celebrate Holiest Week and Receive New Members

(April 6, 2017) -- Catholics in the Diocese of Green Bay join their Catholic brothers and sisters around the world in celebrating Holy Week and the Easter Triduum (meaning the sacred "Three Days"), which commemorate the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, April 9-16. At the Easter Vigil Masses in the diocese on Holy Saturday night, over 200 individuals will also join the Catholic Church.

Catholic Charities to Host Birthmother Retreat May 6

(March 16, 2016) -- Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay will partner with Catholic Charities of the Dioceses of La Crosse, Madison, and Milwaukee to host a birthmother retreat on May 6, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The retreat will be held at the Catholic Charities Adult Day Center in Milwaukee, WI, and the theme is "Always in My Heart: Remembering a Birthmother's Love."

Diocese to Celebrate Rural Life Days 2017

(March 14, 2017) -- The Diocese of Green Bay will host Rural Life Days on Tuesday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, Bear Creek, and on Thursday, March 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, Brillion. Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Robert Morneau will celebrate the March 28 Mass and Bishop David L. Ricken will celebrate the March 30 Mass. The events include a Mass, a blessing, luncheon, and keynote address.

Bishop Grants Dispensation from Abstinence from Eating Meat on St. Patrick's Day

Diocese-Green-Bay-LogoGREEN BAY, Wis. (March 9, 2017) -- Bishop David L. Ricken has granted a dispensation from abstinence from eating meat on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2017. Typically, Catholics ages 14 and older abstain from eating meat on Fridays during Lent. Every seven years or so, St. Patrick's Day will fall on a Lenten Friday.
