Diocese Releases Statement Regarding Pope's Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia

Diocese of Green Bay LogoGREEN BAY, Wis. (April 8, 2016) -- Today, Pope Francis released his apostolic exhortation entitled "Amoris Laetitia; On Love in the Family." Amoris Laetitia, which in Latin means "The Joy of Love," is the document written by the pope following synods hosted by the Vatican in 2014 and 2015. These synods were attended by Catholic bishops and laity invited from around the world, and addressed issues and pastoral challenges concerning family life.

Kohl Award Winners Named, Eight Awardees from Diocesan Catholic Schools

(March 22, 2016) -- The selection committee for the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Scholarship, Fellowship and Leadership Program has announced recipients of the 2016 Herb Kohl Foundation awards for students, teachers, and principals. The $3,000 awards are being made to 100 teachers and their schools, 16 principals and their schools, and 184 graduating high school students from the state of Wisconsin. This year marks the first Kohl principal awards that recognize school leadership across the state.

Diocese to Celebrate Rural Life Day 2016

(March 22, 2016) -- The Diocese of Green Bay will host Rural Life Day on Tuesday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, Tisch Mills, and on Thursday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, Bear Creek. Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus Robert Morneau will celebrate the April 5 Mass and Bishop David L. Ricken will celebrate the April 7 Mass. The events include a Mass, luncheon, and keynote address.

Catholics Celebrate Holiest Week and Receive New Members

(March 18, 2016) -- Catholics in the Diocese of Green Bay join their Catholic brothers and sisters around the world in celebrating Holy Week and the Easter Triduum (meaning the sacred "Three Days"), which commemorate the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, March 20-27. At the Easter Vigil Masses in the diocese on Holy Saturday night, 200 individuals will also join the Catholic Church.
