Green Bay to Host Catholic Media Conference, Registration Now Open

(April 26, 2018) -- The Compass, the official newspaper for the Diocese of Green Bay, along with the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau, the City of Green Bay, and the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help are thrilled to host the annual Catholic Media Conference for communication professionals throughout the United States and Canada, June 12-15, 2018, at the KI Convention Center, Green Bay. The Catholic Press Association (CPA) hosts the Catholic Media Conference (CMC) each year, where Catholic journalists, communicators, and those interested in the field come together to share information, learn about the changing industry, and network with each other. With nearly 250 publication members and 600 individual members, member print publications reach 10 million households, plus countless others through digital outlets. The Catholic Media Conference is one of the world's largest gatherings of Catholic communicators.

Vatican Official to Speak

The keynote will be presented by Dr. Nataša Govekar, Director of the Department of Pastoral Theology, Vatican Secretariat for Communications. She studied Theology and Slovene at the University of Ljubljana, and received her Doctorate in Missiology from the Pontifical Gregorian University, writing her doctoral thesis on “The Transmission Of Faith Through Images.” She will also participate in a panel with Bishop David Ricken, Sr. Marie Kolbe Zamora and Julianne Stanz.

All Welcome to Attend

Online registration is now open through May 23, 2018, and onsite registration opens June 12, 2018 (additional $50). All are welcome to attend, including members of the local media, communication professionals, CPA members, non-members, and parish and school attendees. Full registration includes:

  • Tuesday: Opening reception and tour of Lambeau Field with welcome by Fr. James Baraniak, Chaplain for the Green Bay Packers and Wayne Larivee, sports announcer for the Green Bay Packers
  • Wednesday: Mass, wine and food pairing at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, Champion
  • All sessions and lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Choice of banquet: Thursday Gabriel Awards or Friday Catholic Press Awards
