As the U.S. Catholic Bishops' document "Sharing Catholic Social Teaching" states: "the roots of Catholic social teaching are found in the Scriptures, but its branches continue to grow. The body of social doctrine grew through the centuries as the Church encountered new social situations."
As Catholic Social Justice Coordinator, I serve the Diocese by working with parishes in the area of social ministry. I do this by sharing resources, discussing ideas to address injustice, and consulting with parishes their efforts to build, grow, or promote their social ministry. I also facilitate the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl Grants and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development program, and I serve as a liaison to several community groups.
