Dear friends,
Life is a gift, and we are charged by the Creator to protect it and to foster its growth wherever possible. As individuals, made in the image and likeness of God, we are challenged each day to pursue life over death, potential over limitations and light over darkness.
We cannot change the past, but we can learn from it and pledge to never repeat it. I pledge, as the shepherd of all the souls in the 16 counties that make up the Diocese of Green Bay, that we will practice openness. I share with you on this page, links to all materials compiled as part of our response to clergy abuse.
As has been our policy since 2004, we will continue to turn over all substantiated allegations of sexual abuse of a minor to the proper civil authorities for investigation and continue a zero tolerance policy of any abuse reported. We will walk with all victims/survivors known today, and those who may come forward in the weeks and months ahead.
I cannot express enough how deeply sorry I am for the wounds inflicted on the victims/survivors and their families. I am however, grateful that there is now an opening for others who have been hurt by the Church to come forward. I invite you to please come forward or to seek the help of a health care professional. All the information you need is contained in the links below.
May God continue to bless you and may the information contained in these pages help you find healing.
Yours in Christ,
