White Mass on Feb. 11 celebrates and offers prayers for health care professionals
GREEN BAY, Wis. (Feb 5, 2024) – All are invited to the annual White Mass, honoring health care providers, for the Diocese of Green Bay. The Mass will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 9 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. Bishop David L. Ricken will be the celebrant. The Mass will be followed by a brunch and speaker, Anthony LoCoco, sponsored by the St. Gianna Molla Guild of Northeast Wisconsin. Visit www.sgmgnew.com for more information.
A White Mass, named for the color traditionally worn by those in the medical field, is celebrated in gratitude for the dedication of health care professionals. Physicians, nurses, and all those serving in the wide variety of health care professions are invited and encouraged to attend, including retired personnel.
“We are blessed to have our communities supported by dedicated women and men who serve in a wide variety of health care professions, including our local doctors and nurses. In addition, we hold in prayer all those whom they care for who need healing,” said Bishop David L. Ricken. “The White Mass will give us the opportunity to unite our prayers of thanksgiving and petition for these individuals and especially to ask God’s blessing upon them.”
Bishop Ricken will impart a special blessing upon those attending, both those serving in the medical field as well as all caregivers.
All are welcome to attend this White Mass. This year’s Mass falls on World Day of the Sick and the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, patroness of the sick.
